Shop Artist of the month

May Feature - Uncle Ty Designs

If you’ve stopped by the shop on a weekend evening, chances are you’ve already met Camden “Ty” Mullenaux, the artist behind Uncle Ty Designs and one of the familiar faces working our night shift. Ty brings that same personality and creativity into his artwork, creating playful illustrations, stickers, prints, originals, and commission pieces that are full of humor, color, and perspective. He describes his style as “cartoonish, colorful, and simplistic,” often drawing inspiration from Hawaiʻi’s unique beauty, local culture, music, and the charm found in everyday life. Fun fact: Ty is also my brother, which makes this feature feel especially meaningful to share.

Ty has been creating for as long as he can remember, driven by what he describes as a lifelong desire to “communicate the ideas in my head in a better manner than words ever could.” His process starts traditionally with pencil sketches before moving into ink and digital color, blending hand drawn techniques with a clean, playful finish. Whether he’s creating local joke inspired designs, fan art for bands he loves, or custom commission work, his art always carries a sense of humor and individuality. As he puts it, “There’s always a new way to look at something, even if the subject has been interpreted countless times.”

We’re excited to feature Uncle Ty Designs as our May Artist of the Month. His work will be featured in store and online all month long, along with a special promotion running throughout May. We’ll also have an exclusive in store only blind bag series featuring mini original artworks created by Ty. Stop by to shop his stickers, prints, originals, and one of a kind pieces while supporting local artists and the creative community that makes Hawaiʻi so special.
